What is GatherNook?

A cozy, private home for your whole family — your family tree, shared memories and photos, birthdays and reminders, gift ideas, a family chat, notes and to-dos, all in one place.

Is it private? Who can see my family’s stuff?

Only the people in your family. Every family is completely walled off from every other — enforced in the database, not just on screen. We don’t sell your data, show ads, or use third-party tracking. Photos are stored privately and shown only via short-lived, signed links.

Is it free?

Yes — GatherNook is free to start.

How do I add my family?

A parent/admin creates the family, then adds members. Add an email for anyone you want to be able to sign in; relatives can be added to the tree without a login.

Is it safe for children?

Children’s profiles collect only the minimum (name + birthday), a parent confirms consent when setting them up, and there’s an optional, family-friendly language filter (on by default). Children can view family photos but can’t upload them unless a parent turns that on. Every uploaded photo has its location (EXIF/GPS) data stripped and is routed through content scanning.

How do the stars & rewards work?

Kids earn stars for things like completing tasks and sharing memories, and unlock fun ranks as they go. Parents can set real rewards with a star goal. The whole system only appears when your family has a child (and parents can turn it on or off in Settings).

How do reminders work?

GatherNook surfaces upcoming birthdays and important dates, and — if you opt in — can send a gentle push notification. You can also subscribe your family’s dates to Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, or Outlook.

What languages does it support?

English, Spanish, French, and German. It picks your browser’s language automatically, and you can change it any time with the 🌐 switcher.

Can I sign in with Google?

Yes — use “Continue with Google” on the sign-in page.

Can I export or delete my data?

Any time. In Settings you can export a full copy of your family’s data as a file, and delete your account (admins can delete the whole family workspace). See our Privacy Policy for details.

Is there an iOS / Android app?

GatherNook works great in any browser and installs to your home screen like an app. Native iOS and Android apps are on the way.
